Cookie Policy

1. Our Approach to Analytics and Cookies
We use cookies and other data storage methods to ensure the operation of key application features and to improve your experience with our applications and website at https://ucmeet.org.

1.1 What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small files that websites place on your computer while you browse web pages. Some cookies are essential for the functionality of web applications, such as logging in. Another use of cookies is to understand how you use the application so that it can be improved.

Cookies can be first‑party or third‑party. First‑party cookies are stored only in the domain of the website you are currently visiting and can track your activity only within that domain. They are typically used to provide site functionality and to understand how you use it. Third‑party cookies are set by a domain other than the website you are visiting and are used to track your activity across different sites. This is most often done to understand your internet usage and to use that data to show you more relevant advertising.

1.2. What Other Data Storage Methods Do We Use Besides Cookies?
In addition to cookies, UCMeet also uses local storage — a web technology similar to cookies that allows storing larger amounts of data. This enables the UCMeet application to keep data such as chat history and room lists on your device for faster access.

If you consent to sending us product analytics, UCMeet will store an analytics identifier in your account data on your Matrix home server, in order to understand how you use the product across different devices and sessions. A detailed description is provided in the "Product Analytics" section below.

1.3. On Our Website – ucmeet.org
UCMeet uses cookies to track anonymous website usage. This data helps us understand how users use our site so that we can improve it. For example, we can learn which content people find relevant, or receive alerts about pages that load slowly.

Our website analytics are performed using our own CRM system at https://crm.ucmeet.online. UCMeet analytics data is stored in Hubspot’s internal systems and is confidential. We do not share this data with third parties. For more detailed information about this and other data processors we use, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

1.4. In Our Marketing Emails
UCMeet sends emails to customers who have given their consent to receive marketing communications from us. Links in these emails, leading to our marketing website, contain identifiers that help us understand how our emails affect traffic to our website and how users we send emails to interact with our content.

We send emails using our CRM system. Analytics data for marketing emails is stored in internal systems and is confidential. We do not share this data with third parties.

1.5. In Our Applications
UCMeet applications (mobile and web versions) store data on your device to provide core application functions. Here are a few examples of such functions:
• Storing a local copy of your chat history;
• Storing an authentication token so you don’t have to log in every time you open UCMeet;
• Using local caching to reduce the number of network requests and speed up data loading.

This data is not shared with third parties.

UCMeet Web stores data both in cookies and in your browser’s local storage.

UCMeet for Android and UCMeet for iOS applications do not use cookies or local storage, but store similar data in the application's own native storage.

1.6. Matrix UCMeet Services (ucmeet.org)
ucmeet.org uses both first‑party and third‑party cookies to provide core functionality. Here are a few examples:
• Fraud prevention;
• Storing a token allows you to stay authenticated throughout your session and redirects users to the appropriate page after login and account creation.

ucmeet.org also uses analytics to understand how the console is used. When you are logged in to your account, UCMeet may track your usage of the site and link that information with your account data. This data helps us understand how our users use the application so that we can improve the Service.

2. Product Analytics
UCMeet applications send analytics data to posthog.ucmeet.org if you have given consent to collect usage data. This data is used to improve UCMeet products and contains usage information and debug telemetry. The data does not contain any personal information such as Matrix IDs or room IDs. You can change your analytics collection settings at any time in the UCMeet settings.

UCMeet application analytics is powered by the free, open‑source analytics platform Posthog, which is fully hosted within our network. We do not share any analytics data with third parties.

When this feature is enabled, the UCMeet application analytics generates a unique anonymous Analytics ID for each Matrix account, which is used to identify usage of the same account across different UCMeet installations. This allows us to better understand how UCMeet is used on different devices and platforms, and to improve the overall user experience. The Analytics ID is stored in the private account data on your home server under the key im.vector.analytics.

If you explicitly send logs for troubleshooting via our Rageshake feature, UCMeet receives detailed technical information about your usage of UCMeet, as well as identifiers such as your Matrix ID. More detailed information about this data can be found in our Privacy Policy.
